Devin Wilder, a 4th-grade student at Franklin Elementary, has been recognized as a 2025 National Math Star Nominee, an honor given to some of the top-performing math students across Iowa. In recognition of this achievement, Wilder was awarded a medal for his outstanding performance and nomination.
The Iowa Department of Education partnered with National Math Stars to identify the state’s highest-achieving math students based on their scores from the 2025 Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP). This spring, 764 third-grade students who scored in the top 2% statewide were nominated. From that group, students had the opportunity to apply for additional support and recognition through National Math Stars, with only 17 students statewide accepted into the 2025 cohort.
“Devin willingly accepts the challenge of learning new math concepts,” said Franklin Principal Tim Holmgren. “He has a knack for mental computation and high level problem solving. We look forward to reading about Devin’s accomplishments in the future.”
This recognition highlights Wilder’s dedication to mathematics and the strong academic foundation built within the Marshalltown Community School District.
